About Campus Pastor Scott Chrostek
Scott joined the staff at The Church of the Resurrection on July 1, 2009. Scott and his wife, The Rev. Wendy Lyons Chrostek, a Congregational Care Pastor on staff at Resurrection, moved to downtown Kansas City after serving in two separate local churches outside of Detroit, Michigan. Before serving at Resurrection, Scott worked at Brighton First United Methodist Church as an Associate Pastor, where he was responsible for planning and leading worship, developing programs for youth and young adults, and building bridges into the city of Detroit through mission and service.
Scott is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.S., 2000) and Duke Divinity School (M.Div, 2006). Before entering the ministry, he spent most of his time in the world of investments. Scott was a student of economics at the University of Michigan, worked at Robert W. Baird & Co. (West Bloomfield, MI) and MassMutual Financial Group (Hartford, CT). Scott began his ministry at Duke Divinity School, where he worked on staff at Duke University Chapel, working alongside Bishop Wil Willimon, Rev. Dr. Samuel Wells, and Rev. Craig Kocher. More importantly though, Duke was the place where Scott ultimately met his wife Wendy while camping out for basketball tickets!
Both Scott and Wendy are passionate about the United Methodist Church. They believe in the hope of the gospel and they know that the church is poised to proclaim that hope in such a place and time as this. That they have been given an opportunity to build community and change lives for the sake of Jesus Christ is truly amazing--Scott is thankful.
Scott and Wendy live downtown, and together they are committed to changing lives, transforming the city, and renewing the face of the church in the heart of the urban core.
When Scott isn’t busy working for the church, you’ll probably find him on the tennis court, golf course, hiking in the mountains, or enjoying time in the City Market. It is important to note, however, that above all things (excluding the church and Wendy of course) Scott loves the Detroit Tigers… that could become trouble this October!
