Resurrection Downtown Volunteer Opportunities
Would you like to help build community and change lives in downtown Kansas City by serving on a volunteer team at Resurrection Downtown?
We have many opportunities to serve at Resurrection Downtown. If you're interested in serving on one of these teams, please contact Kelly Sisney.
Resurrection Downtown Volunteer Opportunities:
- Hospitality Team: Serve our congregation and guests refreshments before and after each worship service; offer exceptional hospitality to create a comfortable place for everyone to share in fellowship.
- C.A.R.T. (Cardiac Arrest Response Team) Member: Sit in designated seating during worship and be prepared to respond during a heart related medical emergency. CPR certification is required, training provided, no experience necessary. The Cardiac Arrest Response Team is extremely important and vital to the comfort and safety of our worshipping congregation.
- Communion Server: Help serve the celebration of Holy Communion to our congregation. Holy Communion is the highest sacrament of the United Methodist Church, so it is a special and privileged responsibility to serve on this ministry team. You must be an adult who is committed to serving Christ or a teen who has completed Confirmation Class to fill this position.
- Connection Point Team: These volunteers have the "20,000-foot view" of all ministries and ministry paths into the church. Consultants use available communication tools to stay abreast of connection opportunities within our many ministry areas. Help members and guests get connected into the life of our church.
- KiDS COR/Nursery Team: Serve the youngest residents of Downtown KC! Learn more about the opportunities here. Helpers in this area will need to complete Safe and Sacred Training which is offered frequently at various churches and locations of The Church of the Resurrection.
- Prayer Team: Pray for prayer requests from the congregation and pray daily for the mission and ministries of our church. Prayer Team members receive prayer requests by email on Mondays and are asked to pray for these requests for at least one week.
- Parking/Security Team: Assist with parking before and after worship. Parking attendants will help ensure that our guests' first impression of Resurrection Downtown is one of hospitality.
- Usher Team: Help our congregants find seats, assist during communion and collect the offering and attendance. Members of the Usher Team must be warm, friendly and assertive. The Usher Team also assists with any situation requiring immediate response during worship such as medical emergencies, severe weather conditions, etc.
- Worship Greeter: Serve in a key role at Resurrection Downtown. Be faithful to welcome adults and children, display enthusiasm about our church home and generate an atmosphere of care while warmly receiving and welcoming everyone. Some greeters will be at the doors to welcome congregants to worship while others may assist with handing out bulletins, pens and other items needed for worship.
